World War Z Sequel World War Z: Aftermath Release Date Announced
We finally have a World War Z: Aftermath release date. World War Z: Aftermath is the sequel to World War Z, the co-op zombie shooter with over 15 million played, and will be launching on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on September 21, 2021.
What’s the deal with World War Z: Aftermath?
For starters, you’ll be able to join three friends on any platform, as full cross-play has been enabled. Together you’ll all be able to turn the tide on the zombie apocalypse that keeps on coming, in new locations such as in Rome’s Vatican City and in Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula. You’ll be able to play as new and returning characters and use a new melee system that is supposedly quite brutal. You’ll be able to massacre ‘Zekes’ with unique moves, perks, and dual-wielded weapons like the sickle and the cleaver. It really feels like Saber Interactive is really… throwing the kitchen sink at this one, eh?
There’s also a new Horde Mode XL that promises to, well, be extra-large. There will be hundreds more zombies on the screen than was previously possible. You’ll have to wait for the update though, as it will arrive in a free post-launch update for PC. It’s exclusive to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S so we’ll be sure to not have too much fun with it.
If you already own World War Z, you’ll be able to upgrade for $19.99 for the standard version and $29.99 for the deluxe edition, so no one will be left out involuntarily. The world won’t save itself, y’know?
World War Z: Aftermath will be launching on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 21, 2021. If you’d like to wishlist the game on Steam, be sure to go here.
