The Biggest Mass Effect Graphics Mod is now on Mass Effect Legendary Edition
A Lot Of Textures (ALOT) is a “Vanilla-friendly, exhaustive and easy to install graphical overhaul mod for the Mass Effect Trilogy”, and is now available for those who have Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
What is A Lot Of Textures (ALOT) ?
Basically, ALOT is a visual upgrade for the original Mass Effect Trilogy. It was actually endorsed by Bioware “as a benchmark for its improvements” that went into the Legendary Edition. While the Nexus Mods page states that the Legendary Edition rendered much of the work obsolete, many of the textures in the mod remain superior.
So, in order for players to get the best overall textures, ALOT was ported to the LE to get the best of both worlds. This includes improvements specifically for ALOT’s Improved Static Lightning (ISL)–which was completely remade–“and vastly improved upon for the LE.” Apparently, much of the lightning and shadows players will see in-game are pre-rendered and stored as textures. These textures weren’t improved for the LE, which means there were blocky shadows everywhere. ISL fixes this by running the textures through a “state-of-the-art, neural network-based denoising, antialiasing and upscaling process for about 40,000 light and shadow maps across the trilogy.” That’s a lot of anything, let alone light and shadow maps. You also are able to pick and choose which parts of ALOT you want to install, with some players prefering the Legendary Edition Character models, but preferring other parts from ALOT.
