Humankind Mac Version Delayed Several Weeks
Amplitude Studios has announced that the Humankind Mac version has been delayed for several weeks. In the meantime, it will focus on balancing this upcoming PC 4X game to get it ready for its launch in two weeks.
Humankind is a 4X real-time strategy game in the vein of stuff like Sid Meier’s Civilization. The difference here, of course, is that it’s a brand-new property that has been in development for several years. Thus far, Amplitude Studios has shown itself to be pretty open with the community, inviting gamers to test out time-limited scenarios and removing Denuvo DRM from the game after it was shown to have a negative impact on performance. That same openness with the community doesn’t always bring good news, however — the Humankind Mac version is going to be delayed by several weeks.
Why Was the Humankind Mac Version Delayed?
The Humankind Mac version was delayed due to two key issues: problems with certain configurations and with multiplayer. Amplitude Games notes that this was a “difficult decision,” but it wants to take the time to make sure that it gets everything right for launch.
The PC version of the game, however, is still on track for its August 17 release. Amplitude shared a number of improvements that are on the way in today’s announcement including a number of improvements to the diplomacy system, several quality-of-life improvements, and some balancing of the A.I. A new Pollution system has also been added and will kick in around the end of Era 5.
Balance is, in fact, a big focus of the final weeks of development. Many cultures are being rebalanced along with research costs and Era Star thresholds. Some civics and ideologies have been changed, and new Religion tenets are being introduced that should provide more challenging gameplay.
Unfortunately, Amplitude Studios declined to share any specific examples of these changes just yet; it also hasn’t yet specified the Humankind Mac version release date other than a rough approximation of one month. Based on what the developer has said, it looks like Humankind may be a very different experience from what we’ve seen during the beta. You can find out for yourself by pre-purchasing Humankind on PC via its official website for $49.79 or your regional equivalent, a 17% discount off of its normal retail price.
